    I have a question about the central desert on Pangaea: where did the sand come from, and how did it get there? What got ground up, and how?

There's not a great deal there that speaks directly to the formation of the sand, but it does imply that the sand must have been primarily created by wind erosion, because we also know it didn't rain. That seems like an incredibly slow process, it is one of those marvelous things that reminds me how long a billion years is, and how little time we've been around in comparison.
